Hundreds of residents and visitors enjoyed food, wine and rugby in spring sunshine in Arrowtown on Saturday.

The Matches Made in Heaven event was hosted by the Arrowtown Promotion and Business Association on Buckingham Green.

Former All Black turned celebrity chef Grahame Thorne, of Gibbston, regaled patrons with tales from his career and prepared a delicious lamb dish.

Young Arrowtown rippa rugby players displayed their skills in a drop-kick-goal competition.

Arrowtown Thursday Club members stoked the barbecue while the Arrow Miners Band serenaded the audience.

Matches Made in Heaven continues in Wakatipu until October 23. The food and wine of the Southern Lakes will be celebrated in Taste Queenstown over the weekends of October 8 and 9, and 15 and 16, on Earnslaw Park.
