Gavin McKeon has a handy book of mounts, including last-start winner Casali, when he resumes riding in New Zealand at the Taupo meeting today.

McKeon has been riding in Singapore for the past four months.

His wins there included the $S450,000 ($NZ453,000) Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge on The Hornet.

Casali (race 8) was a last-start winner over 2100m at Ruakaka on July 12 when ridden by Paul Taylor.

McKeon will renew his association with Be Happy To Me. The 9yr-old Sandtrap mare has not raced since January.

McKeon has ridden Be Happy To Me in two of her four wins. Her last win was in December, 2006.

Be Happy For Us, a winner over 1100m at Taupo last September, is among the rivals for Be Happy To Me over 1000m today.

McKeon is riding Blue Diamonds (race 5) and Cape Point (race 6) for trainer Ralph Manning.

Blue Diamonds, who was runner-up in two trials last season, is a Stravinsky-Diamond Habit 3yr-old.

• Richard Didham has joined his father, Les, as a training partner at Riccarton.

Richard (23) is a third generation of his family to train thoroughbreds.

Richard has been assisting his father for the past 18 months after 12 months with Riccarton trainer Peter Williams.

He had four years as a despatcher with a Christchurch road transport operator.

His father won the 1993 Winter Cup with Corrigan Lad.

Les had several major wins, including the 1990 Dunedin Cup and White Robe Lodge Handicap with Art Banquet and the 1988 Dunedin Cup with Il Commandante when in partnership with his late father, Arthur, at Wingatui.

Arthur made several trips to Australia when training on his own and won the Australian Jockey Club Handicap (Lochie), Denham Handicap (Field Chief) and Pale Blue (Mersey Stakes) at the 1957 Royal Randwick meeting.

• Bold Trader, who fell in the Grand National Hurdles at Riccarton on Saturday, has been entered for a maiden steeplechase at Oamaru on Friday.

He has won over hurdles for the Ruakaka stable of Donna and Dean Logan and Chris Gibbs, The steeplechase was added to the Oamaru programme.

Nominations have been held open until this morning for the meeting.
