Kuma, a Southern Maori business network, is organising its annual hui-a-tau at Lakeland Park, Kelvin Heights, on September 29 and 30.
Between 50 and 60 business people from Otago and Southland are expected to attend, along with members from Wellington and Rotorua.
Iwi elder and former Ngai Tahu chairman Sir Tipene O'Regan was in discussions to give the opening speech, and other guest speakers were yet to be confirmed.
The hui will involve more member-to-member participation.
Sessions will cover funding, technology, marketing and collaboration.
Inaugural chairman and board member Philip Broughton, of Dunedin, said Kuma was a group whose members shared common values and practices.
"Like any organisation, we're looking to gather together and learn from each other and come out at the end wiser and more informed about business decisions," Mr Broughton said.
