Two National Health Board reviews affecting the Southern District Health Board will be discussed in secret at the Southern board's meeting in Invercargill tomorrow.
An NHB spokesman said no public statements were likely tomorrow about either the Dunedin Hospital systems assessment or the expert panel review of future Wakatipu health services.
It is understood the expert panel, led by Dr Peter Foley, will meet the Southern board at its in-committee session.
Dr Foley has previously advised the panel will present its report and its final recommendations, with a time frame for implementation, to the Southern board at meetings on either August 15, or in September.
National Health Board service improvement manager and leader of the team reviewing Dunedin Hospital systems, Jill Lane, is also expected to attend tomorrow's private session.
She will be outlining recommendations to the Southern board before the team's report is finalised and presumably made public on August 12.
Staff briefings on the draft report have already begun.
Also listed in the closed part of tomorrow's agenda is another National Health Board item listed as "management of service change".
In committee, the Southern board will discuss appointment of trustees to represent the board on the Southern Primary Health Organisation.
Questioned about the need for that to be held behind closed doors, board chief executive Brian Rousseau said discussing pros and cons of nominations in public did not protect the privacy of individuals.
