A Cardrona Valley developer has gained consent to build three farm buildings on his land, but has been refused permission to proceed with a separate project to establish a building platform on a neighbouring property.
At consent hearings in March, Lakes Environmental planners recommended the separate consent applications lodged by Dunedin company director Lane Hocking and his company LAC Properties Trust Ltd be declined because they did not meet strict planning requirements for the Cardrona Valley's outstanding natural landscape zone designation.
However, the residential dwellings proposal was granted with conditions by commissioners Jane Taylor and Sally Middleton.
Mr Hocking was refused consent for an 813sq m building platform and associated earthworks on his 83.79ha "Heartlands" property, located about 7km north of the Cardrona township.
