Negotiations between Port Otago management and the unions, which represent the majority of the port's 300 workers, have not gone smoothly and the parties are now in mediation.

Yesterday's discussions were no exception with mediation due to resume on Thursday, only two days ahead of a planned overtime ban from this Saturday.
