About 250 Maori university students from around the country have gathered in Dunedin for an annual conference, involving a number of workshops, kapa haka and a talent quest.
A kapa haka showcase will be held today from noon to 4.30pm in the university's Teachers College Auditorium.
There were workshops on Maori art and a waiata workshop, which focused on song composition.
Te Roopu Maori president Deinda Stanway said the overall theme of the conference was "utilising history, and knowledge from the past, to guide us in future endeavours".
As well as the workshops, there would also be a sports day and a "non-traditional" talent show. A powhiri was held for the students yesterday morning.
