World Ranger Day

Sunday is World Ranger Day and to celebrate, the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust is giving people the opportunity to experience a day in the life of its ranger Leith Thomson.

The aim was to highlight some of the work Mr Thomson did as well as give people a chance to experience ranger activities such as planting trees, looking for penguin footprints and learning how transponders were used to identify penguins.

Open to existing and new trust members, it would also include an exclusive tour of a yellow-eyed penguin reserve in North Otago.

Mr Thomson said the work allowed him to work in some beautiful places and help save an endangered species.
