Dunedin choral conductor Ben Madden rehearses the massed choir which will perform at the Otago Secondary Schools Music Festival 50th anniversary concert at the Dunedin Town Hall next Tuesday at 6.30pm.

The show will feature about 600 music pupils from 20 schools, performing in a massed choir, orchestra, concert band, string orchestra and jazz band — each
combining the talents of each individual school.

It will also include several spots for a variety of individual groups who have achieved musical success this year.

Highlights of the concert will include the massed choir performing Faure’s Libera Me, the massed orchestra performing the first movement of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony and a medley of Beatles tunes, and the massed jazz band playing Chick Corea’s Spain.
