Public consulted for new sports facilities

Planning for Wanaka's new sports facilities has entered a new consultation phase, with the focus on what should be included at the Three Parks site.

The public can answer a questionnaire this month and take part in workshop on July 27.

The questionnaire will be sent to clubs and other groups and is also available online or at the Queenstown Lakes District Council offices. It closes on August 1.

A report and site plan will then be prepared for a second phase of public feedback in October.

The present site plan, based on previous consultation, includes two courts sports buildings, a footprint for an aquatic centre, eight outdoor netball courts, an artificial hockey turf, a sports field and car parks.

The consultation is being led by Queenstown Lakes District Council project manager Ken Gousmett.
