The Highlanders head into enemy territory tonight to take on the Crusaders in a Super Rugby quarterfinal.
Most are picking the home team will prevail.
The Highlanders, though, have some positives to take into the match.
The side has named its best possible team. It is coming off a 40-point win last week. Its forward pack has stood tall all year and will not back down to anyone.
And with the return of Ben Smith, the side has its talisman back.
Plus upsets have been the flavour of this competition this year.
Remember the Sunwolves beating the Chiefs. The Chiefs coming back from a 20-point deficit to beat the Crusaders?
The Blues winning four games in a row?And there have been a mind-boggling seven drawn games this year, up from one last season.
So it has been a season of unpredictability and upsets. Teams from opposite ends of the table have hardly followed the script.
That suggests there is a chance for the Highlanders. Play well and get it done.
So let’s hope. Nothing would bring a wider smile to Highlanders fans then to beat the defending champion in its own backyard.
