The Espys may not be known to many in New Zealand but they are prestigious in the United States.
The Espys award ceremony in Los Angeles early next month will attract leading figures from the sporting world.
The categories range from best male and female athlete to the slightly more bizarre such as best WWE moment and best jockey.
``I just look at the past year in wonder and can't believe how everything's gone.
``I'm stoked to be nominated; it's a huge honour,'' Sadowski-Synnott said yesterday.
The Wanaka snowboarder was nominated in the best female action sports athlete category.
She will contest the Espy award against American snowboarder Chloe Kim, Australian surfer Stephanie Gilmore and Estonian skier Kelly Sidaru.
It comes after another big year for Sadowski-Synnott, who shot into the public eye with a bronze medal-winning performance at last year's Winter Olympics.
She has claimed a world title and gold at both the X Games and US Open, and has won the supreme award at the Otago Sports Awards for the past two years.
Sadowski-Synnott was at a training camp at Mt Hood in Oregon yesterday.
She is scheduled to return to New Zealand and Wanaka on July 5, when she will commence her southern hemisphere winter training.
Whether she will attend the awards is still up in the air.
Sadowski-Synnott was not the only New Zealander to gain an Espy nomination yesterday.
IndyCar driver Scott Dixon is nominated in the best driver category while MMA fighter Israel Adesanya is also nominated for best MMA fighter.
