A rules breach has ended Mosgiel's Chatham Cup campaign.
New Zealand Football confirmed yesterday the club was deemed to have forfeited its second-round match against Timaru's West End.
That came as a result of fielding an ineligible player in the 5-0 win.
It is believed a player transferred to Mosgiel after the Southern Premier League, but had not cleared the 10 working days Cup eligibility period.
The result has been changed to a 3-0 loss, while a minimum fine has also been imposed on Mosgiel.
The loss was Mosgiel's first of the season, having gone unbeaten through the Southern Premier League.
Club president Dave Young took a philosophical approach to the decision.
He said it ''is what it is'' and the team would now look ahead to the South Island league which begins on the last weekend of June.
West End will now play Roslyn Wakari at Ellis Park in the third round on Saturday at 2pm.
In the other southern game, the other South Island league qualifiers - Otago University and Caversham - will face off at the Caledonian Ground.
In the Kate Sheppard Cup, Dunedin Technical and Roslyn Wakari will play under lights at the Logan Park Turf at 6.30pm.
They play for the right to advance to play the winner of the Waimakiriri United and Coastal Spirit fixture from the Mainland federation.
