Oamaru residents are being advised to ensure their belongings and property are safe and secure, following two reported burglaries in the town over the past few days.
Overnight on May 30 an unlocked laundry room connected to a house in Trent St was entered and a quantity of alcohol taken, and a building used by several community groups and organisations was targeted between May 31 and June 3.
In that incident, the Drill Hall in Itchen St was broken into and a sum of cash taken from an office.
Sergeant Blair Wilkinson, of Oamaru, said no arrests had been made and inquiries were continuing.
At this stage there was no indication the burglaries were linked, he said.
''One is from a residential house and the other a community space, so there is no real suggestion they are connected.''
-An 18-year-old Oamaru man was arrested on Sunday and has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man's arrest was in relation to an incident that took place in a north Oamaru street on April 26. He is scheduled to appear in the Oamaru District Court today.
