Trainer Terri Rae said Don't Say Clang would probably be off work for a week after the stone bruise in his left front foot.
He sustained the bruise on Monday.
"He is still scratchy and we have put a poultice and a pad on the foot," Rae said.
She is hoping to race Don't Say Clang at the Marton meeting on September 13.
Point Guard, Capecover and Tiakinui are other scratchings from the Winter Cup.
Point Guard has a minor foot problem.
The $2000 late entry fee was paid for Waikeepadacash after he won the Te Awamutu Cup (1580m) at his last start on July 5.
Samantha Spratt, who rode him to win over 1400m at Ellerslie on June 14, is back in the saddle.
Vinny Colgan, who rode him at Te Awamutu is under suspension.
Kelly Myers has replaced Lisa Allpress on Al Farouk.
Allpress made the trip from Wanganui to Christchurch on Sunday, only to find the meeting had been abandoned.
She was unable to make suitable flight arrangements for today.
The abandonment of the first day of the meeting and the transfer of the Grand National Hurdles to Saturday has resulted in a change of plans for hurdlers Just A Swagger, Nicholman and Kidunot.
They are in the Sydenham Hurdles today.
They were not acceptors on the first day.
Just A Swagger won the Sydenham in 2004 and the National Hurdles in 2004 and 2005.
Nicholman ran second to Counter Punch in the National Hurdles last year.
He had a flat race at Oamaru on July 27 at his last start after two steeplechases.
The weather was fine in Christchurch yesterday with the track rated heavy (11).
