After nine rounds of competition, the Taieri Lakes team has missed qualifying for the playoffs of the metropolitan men's Senior A pennant series.
The Taieri team is languishing at the bottom of the scoreboard with one win and three points, six points behind St Clair, with one round to play.
St Clair opened the gap at the bottom of the table by beating Chisholm at Chisholm Links 3.5-2.5 on Saturday.
Taieri had a bye and could do nothing but watch its playoff chances vanish.
Mosgiel will play for pride next Saturday when it meets St Clair in the final round.
Meanwhile, Otago cemented its place at the top of the table by beating Island Park by an impressive 5 to 1 margin at Island Park.
Otago, Island Park, Chisholm Links and St Clair will participate in the start-again playoffs and all that is left to decide in the final round is which teams meet in the semifinals, to be played on a neutral course.
