A crane lifts a section of the temporary Oamaru courthouse, known as the "porta-court", before placing it on a truck bound for Christchurch on Thursday.

Work to dismantle the building started earlier this week and was scheduled to be completed yesterday.

Court services returned to the historic courthouse in lower Thames St in mid-January after the Waitaki District Council earthquake-strengthened and refurbished the building.
