The museum's 150th anniversary exhibition "est. 1868", which has already attracted more than 50,000 visitors, was celebrated with "one final hurrah" at the 7pm event, museum marketing manager Hannah Molloy said.
Museum staff shared "the quirkiest secrets" behind some of the artefacts in the show, and the "tastiest experiences" were created by Otago Polytechnic food design and culinary arts students.
Other highlights included the "biggest sounds" from DJ Josh Bones and Person Will, and lively burlesque performances from Jersey Rhein and Verona Vega.
