Education Minister Anne Tolley has declined to reveal dates and times of her visits to the South Dunedin schools she will likely close early next month.

Early this month, Mrs Tolley announced it was likely Macandrew Intermediate and Forbury Schools would be merged as a years 1-8 primary school on the Macandrew site.

She also announced it was likely Caversham, College Street and Calton Hill Schools would be merged as a years 1-8 school on the Caversham site, with a campus on the Calton Hill site.

It is believed she wants to visit the schools in person before making her final decisions on the closures and mergers in South Dunedin.

However, a spokesman for Mrs Tolley said information about the visits would not be released to the public.

"Any visits to the schools will be private," he said yesterday.

Forbury School principal Janice Tofia said she had not heard from the minister about her visit yet, but welcomed her.

"It would be great for her to come here and see what we do first hand."

The schools and their parents have until the end of the month to persuade Mrs Tolley of their views on the closures and mergers. A final decision will be announced early next month and any changes will be implemented from term one next year.
