Grey Power is doing a membership drive and is encouraging younger people - aged 50 and over - to join.

Grey Power represented the over 50s but too many people viewed it as "an old people's group", Mr Jackson said. "We want to bolster our membership, get some more members, new blood and fresh ideas," he said.

Mrs Goyen said people aged between 50 and 60 would gain considerable benefits from belonging to the organisation.

Ms Scott spoke about the "Get Dotted" programme for improving communication skills, which helped people with different communication styles get on to someone else's "wavelength" as quickly as possible.
