Racing: Strapped For Cash set to resume racing

Strapped For Cash, the top-class winter galloper, is set to resume racing at Wanganui on June 4.

Strapped For Cash, who has not raced since July, is now trained by David Greene at Te Aroha.

"We have had him in work since January and given him a long, slow preparation," Greene said.

"We plan to start him off in the weight-for-age 1600m at Wanganui."

Strapped For Cash, an 8yr-old, does most of his work on the treadmill at the Greene stable, with the occasional trip to Te Aroha.

He was pre-trained in recent seasons by Greene, who then passed him to part-owner David Smythe.

Strapped For Cash has won the Parliamentary Handicap at Trentham the past two years. His 11 wins also include the 2009 Mitchelson Cup and Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslie and the 2008 Taumarunui Cup.

Roseline, the winner of six races on the flat, is an acceptor for the maiden hurdles at Wingatui tomorrow. The 7yr-old mare trained at Ascot Park by John Yeo, had her most recent win at Wingatui in April.

Gioarchino has joined the Wanganui stable of Kevin Myers. Gioarchino has won three flat races and been runner-up in his two starts over hurdles for Wingatui owner-trainer Marion Stevenson, who is recuperating from two knee replacements.
