Members of Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD) in Waitaki have been busy promoting initiatives to get their peers home safely or keep them safe while socialising.
Members have developed a No Regrets Party Pack which will be launched during SADD week at the end of August.
The pack included information to help both teenagers and parents plan a party safely.
The group provided buses for after-formal parties and the St Kevins College-Waitaki Boys High School rugby clash.
Members also surveyed an area of the community that had been affected, or was perceived to be affected, by litter and wilful damage, chairwoman Jess Russell said.
One observation was the lack of rubbish bins at the start of the liquor ban area.
A request has now been forwarded to the Waitaki District Council asking if rubbish bins could be put in those areas - Thames Highway north, Severn-Itchen Sts and Wansbeck-Itchen Sts.
The Community Clean Up project regularly cleaned up broken glass in those areas, Waitaki community safety co-ordinator Alison Banks said.
