A man was taken to hospital in a serious condition after getting into trouble in Lake Wakatipu last night.
A police spokeswoman said a man was seen about 100 metres offshore, near the Queenstown Gardens walkway, yelling for help about 6pm.
He was picked up by a commercial jetboat and taken to shore about 10 minutes later.
The man was taken to Lakes District Hospital in a serious condition just before 7pm, she said.
