The Queenstown doubles specialist and partner Jan-Lennard Struff have advanced to the semifinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
That followed a 7-5, 7-5 win over Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic - both ranked in the world top 10 - in yesterday's quarterfinals.
Their semifinal opponent was to be determined in the last of the quarterfinals, played at 1am today.
Last week McLachlan teamed with Dutchman Matwe Middelkoop to make the final of the Open 13 in Marseille, France.
The duo won a third set tiebreak 10-7 over Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Oswald in the semifinal.
They then split the opening two sets of the final against home pair Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin.
However, Chardy and Martin closed the match out 10-3 in the tiebreak.
It follows an early exit from the first grand slam of the year, when McLachlan and Struff lost an agonising tiebreak in the first round.
The week before they had won the ASB Classic crown in Auckland.
While the loss hurt McLachlan's ranking, he remains 27th in the world, falling from 18th.
The next grand slam is the French Open, which begins in late May.
