More than 60 people from across the South Island gathered in Invercargill at the weekend for the second annual disc golf tournament.

The competition at the Queens Park 18-net course drew people from children to professional players.

Philip Botha (17) said he had been introduced to the sport five years ago.

Keira (7) and Brooklyn (5) Daken learned about disc golf for the first time at the event.

"It's really fun. I can flick the disc all day," Brooklyn said.

The Professional player Hayley Flintoft drove from Wanaka to compete at the weekend.

She said the course at Queens Park was tight and challenging.

Tournament co-director Calvin Jenkins (15) said the turnout was better than he had expected.

"A lot of people saw us here and started to ask questions. I hope disc golf has a few more fans now."
