A Gore police officer found not guilty of insurance fraud has resigned, while the future of two Dunedin officers found guilty of assault remains unclear after more than two years suspended on full pay.
A jury found Alastair Brown, of Gore, not guilty of fraud after a trial in Dunedin this month.
Mr Brown remained suspended during an internal police investigation into his conduct around several matters - the others are undisclosed. However, he had since resigned, Southern police district operations manager Inspector Lane Todd said.
Two Dunedin officers, Constables Brenton Rooney and Duncan Hollebon, are still suspended on full pay while police continued to go through "the employment process".
A Dunedin jury found the pair, who have now been suspended for two years and two months, guilty of assault after a district court trial last year. Their appeal to have their convictions overturned failed.
Police have held an internal disciplinary hearing on the matter, and the outcome was referred in January to the police legal section "for analysis".
Two other Southern district officers were on desk duties at present after being suspended, pending internal investigations into their conduct.
He declined to give any details, but said they related to two separate incidents and neither officer potentially faced criminal charges.
