Queenstown's newest acrobatic has been twisting, leaping, tumbling and contorting since she was a toddler and plans to share her skills by setting up an acrobatic academy in the resort.

Jodie Glinster (29) is moonlighting as a waitress after moving from the Gold Coast a month ago because she wanted a change and "had never lived anywhere else".

After being picked up by local talent scouts she has had gigs at the recent circus-themed Cocktail World Cup and the Skyline gondola. She plans to showcase her experience at the coming Easter intensive dance and acrobatics workshop.

Having trained at circus school in trapeze, aerial web, tumbling, human pyramids and partnered adagio, she went on to perform around Queensland with a French cancan group for a decade.

• Easter intensive dance and acrobatics workshop, QPACT dance studios, Ballarat St, April 27 to 29. Classes suitable for 7 to 15-year-olds; limited spaces.
