Cannabis bullets wrapped in tinfoil and stashed in a woman's bra yesterday set off an airport security checkpoint detector at Queenstown, police say.
Two Christchurch women were subsequently charged with possession of cannabis at Queenstown International Airport.
Sergeant Steve Watt, of Queenstown, said one of the women came to attention of security when she set off a metal-detector at a security checkpoint on the way to boarding her flight.
She was subsequently "wanded"and taken to a search area where she confessed she had cannabis hidden in her bra.
"She had 28 cannabis bullets stashed in her bra area, all wrapped up in tinfoil, which would have set the detector off," Sgt Watt said.
"They're [the women] not rocket scientists," he said.
The woman she was travelling with was also searched and found to be carrying cannabis, he said.
Sgt Watt said the two women, aged 58 and 44, were carrying about 90g of cannabis, estimated to be worth $1000, between them and have been remanded in custody to appear in the Queenstown District Court today.
