University-Grange 108
lost to Taieri 109 for seven

The Frost brothers teamed up to help set up a three-wicket win for Taieri against University-Grange in a Dunedin senior club cricket game at Brooklands on Saturday.

Brad took six for 33 in a terrific spell and Marcus two for 19 to complete an eight-wicket haul for the Frost siblings.

Regan Flaws took the other two wickets as University slumped to be all out for 108.

The Frosts were called on to deliver with the bat as well, after their side collapsed to be 61 for seven.

The pair put on a match-winning unbroken stand of 48 for the eighth wicket to convert the bowling effort into victory.

Marcus scored a gutsy 29 from 61 deliveries, while Brad was resolute with 22 from 47.

Sam  Noden was the pick of the University bowlers with four for 28, while Matt Worsnop (33) and Todd Anderson (21) put on 59 for the fourth wicket. University lost its last six wickets for 16 runs and that was ultimately the difference — that and the Frost brothers.

Kaikorai 228 for eight
declared drew with Green Island 67 for seven

Green Island clung on grimly for a draw after Kaikorai dominated the fixture at Bishopscourt.

Volts all-rounder Michael Rippon stroked 114 from 145 deliveries to help Kaikorai post 228 for eight declared.

Rippon found solid support in the form of Jeremy Smith, who made 58. Kaikorai had crashed to 34 for four but the pair put on 153 for the fifth-wicket.

Veteran Green Island seamer Dion Lobb was in the wickets again. He took five for 80 and played a important role with the bat. He stonewalled with one not out from 26 balls to help clinch the draw. That was really Green Island’s only option, after it found itself 50 for five.

Smith ran through the top order with four for 26 and Rippon’s left-arm wrist spin proved a handful as well. He nabbed two for 17.But Daniel Wright and Lobb frustrated the Kaikorai attack for seven overs to hold on for a draw.

The Declaration Cup match between Carisbrook-Dunedin and Albion at Tonga Park was abandoned due to poor weather. Carisbrook-Dunedin was 38 for three after 8.3 overs when the game was called off.

• In Friday night’s twenty20 fixtures, Taieri beat University-Grange by 17 runs after posting 125 all out.
