Smudgee is back on her favourite track with Shankar Muniandy back in the saddle at Wingatui today.
Her four wins have been at Wingatui, two when ridden by Muniandy. All have been over 1600m, the distance today. Her most recent win was on March 12.
She was unplaced in her subsequent start in the South Island Breeders' Stakes at Riccarton when Muniandy rode Inferno. Smudgee is in a rating 75 race today.
Smudgee was one of four winners at the March 12 meeting for Wingatui trainers Brian and Shane Anderton. The stable has Ardent Fire, a top chance in race 2 today. She ran second over the distance, 2200m, at Wingatui two starts back behind stablemate Beata.
Trainer Noel Graham has the chance to win the race named after him with Harry Trimbole.
The 3yr-old was a last-start winner at Wingatui.
