A house fire in Caversham was brought under control on Saturday afternoon before it could consume the home.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire in Law St was well involved when firefighters responded to multiple calls shortly after 4pm.
However, it was brought under control by a fire crew shortly after arrival, the spokesman said.
One person received first aid at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
