Alongside claiming three further medals in Auckland, the 18-year-old broke a New Zealand short course record and won selection to the New Zealand world championships team.
The Neptune swimmer clocked a 33sec personal-best as she won gold and broke the national record for 18-year-olds in the 1500m freestyle.
Her time of 16min 25.17sec was 6sec faster than the previous record held by Samantha Lucie-Smith.
That came a day after swimming a time of 8min 30.65sec in the 800m freestyle to claim gold in the 17-18 grade and silver in the open grade.
It also set a to-be-ratified Otago open record.
The results were good enough for Deans to be selected to attend the short course world championships in China in December.
She was not the only Otago swimmer to have success in the longer races.
Neptune’s Nick Pryde claimed bronze in the men’s open 1500m in 15min 41.44sec in a close race for the final medal.
Molly Law capped her impressive week with a gold in the 16-year-old 100m freestyle.
She managed 56.49sec to win the event.
Taieri’s Jordan Summer also added to the medal tally by swimming 5min 10.94sec to win bronze in the 400m IM.
