Conrad Waldron  reckons Carey Hart’s visit to his Southburn farm’s motocross track this weekend can be nothing but good news.

The American motocross star and husband of singer Pink, who plays in Dunedin tonight, announced this week he would be racing at the New Zealand Veteran and Women’s Motocross Championship, running today and tomorrow at Mr Waldron’s  farm.

The 400ha property southwest of Timaru hosts a 2km motocross track, but the first Mr Waldron knew  of the visit  was when the  former motorcycle racer and freestyle motocross competitor announced it on Thursday.

"Well, it’s official. Looks like I’m racing this weekend in New Zealand!!!," Hart announced on social media.

"If you wanna come watch an out of shape fmx’er [freestyle motocross rider] race some motocross, then come on out," Hart wrote.

Asked if his property was prepared for the influx of motocross fans expected  over the weekend, Mr Waldron said: "I hope so!"

South Canterbury Motorcycle Club president Andrew Richardt said  Hart’s presence was likely to boost spectator numbers.

"I think it’s going to be bigger than we anticipated.

"For him to come to little old Timaru ... this is awesome for our club."

Mr  Richardt said the 43-year-old, married to Pink since 2006, was likely to enjoy the track, consisting only of natural rolling features.

"It’s a real, old-school motocross trail."

The club did not know when Hart would arrive or how, but understood he would compete on both days, and was now a clear favourite in his age category, Mr Richardt said.
