The Christchurch couple's Triumph was one of about 150 in Oamaru during the weekend for the biennial 22nd National Motorcycle Rally organised this year by the North Otago Vintage Car Club.
The Triumph, with the sidecar, is comfortably capable of cruising at about 40kmh, and was transported to Oamaru for the rally, despite the disruption of the city's earthquake last week.
"If we had come by road, we would still be arriving," Mr Craythorne said yesterday.
However, some of the Christchurch entrants did withdraw, lowering the expected number of bikes from 165.
With a 550cc, single-cylinder engine, the Triumph took part in a rally on Saturday, then was on display yesterday at Takaro Park for councours judging and teams events.
Mr Craythorne said the model was produced by Triumph in 1913-14, with various styles of sidecars.
