Cardinals pipped Dodgers 10-9 in an eight-inning thriller in the premier club competition on Saturday.
Just one other game was played, with Waverley blasting nine runs in the final inning to upset Ellis Park 13-3.
Saints was forced to default both its scheduled games because it did not have enough players.
Dodgers leaped to a 5-0 lead after the first inning of the early game when its batters got hold of Cardinals pitcher Shane Whaanga.
Wayne Sangster singled and was then brought home, along with Ben Watts, with a Jamie Robinson double; Duncan Officer thrashed a two-run triple; and then Officer crossed for the fifth run.
Cardinals' reply was swift and brutal, with Crete Whaanga belting a homer off Watts at the top of the second inning.
Simon Maole singled and both Glenn Forrester and Mark Ludlow were walked by Watts.
That brought Doug Hill to the plate and he sent the second pitch he faced over the fence for a grand slam homer.
A 5-0 Dodgers lead had turned into a 5-5 game, and Cardinals pushed into an 8-6 lead at the top of the fifth, thanks to a couple of errors.
Dodgers immediately tied it up again, and the sides traded runs as they went into the eighth inning.
Forrester scored the winning run for Cardinals on an error at the top of the final inning.
Ellis Park took a 3-0 lead in the late game, with Josh Hinch and Ryan Williams hitting home runs in the bottom of the first inning.
But Waverley had its own home-run heroes (Grant Phillips and Greg Hurley) in the third inning, and Phillips was at it again in the fifth, smashing a grand slam to lead Waverley to the win.
Two games - Dodgers v Saints, and Ellis Park v Cardinals - will be played this Saturday, as well as the 2 v 3 qualifying game for the Champions Cup.
Top seed Cardinals has automatic entry into the best-of-three finals on Saturday week.
Saints is second but could be overtaken by Dodgers.
