Police released the name of a woman yesterday who died from her injuries after falling off a ladder while pruning a tree at her Cromwell home.
Dorothy Eleanor Sinclair (62) died in Dunedin Hospital on Sunday night, Senior Constable John Chambers, of Cromwell, said.
She had been on an aluminium ladder and was about 1.8m to 2m from the ground, using secateurs to prune a tree on Sunday afternoon.
The ladder was on uneven ground and the woman had fallen, hitting her head on the road, Snr Const Chambers said.
The accident was witnessed by a child visiting the woman's neighbour and the child told her mother, who alerted the emergency services.
The child's mother and the neighbour supported the woman until the ambulance arrived.
The injured woman was airlifted to Dunedin.
Snr Const Chambers said the death had been referred to the Otago- Southland coroner.
