The popular midfielder will clock up his 100th national league match and join an elite band of football centurions.
Coburn, who has had spells with Mosgiel and Caversham, plays winter football for Dunedin Technical, and was there at day one, when Otago played its first New Zealand Football Championship match seven years ago.
An ever present member of Otago provincial selections since a teenager, he was selected last year for a New Zealand All Stars team which played against current All Whites in preparation for the World Cup in South Africa.
Coburn is yet another Otago player who would have come close to achieving All White status if he had lived in the North Island.
"It seems ages ago since I reached the 50 games, and with the league being reduced to 14 games, it's taken forever. Some injuries and suspensions have not helped," he said.
"I've had quite a bit of ribbing from my team-mates as the 100 approached. I had better take it easy in the warm-up."
Otago United coach Malcolm Fleming said Coburn had scored some important goals for Otago.
"He's been a great servant to the province, and must be one of our most popular players.
"Andy intends to head for Australia later this year on a job transfer, but we hope that he finishes with us, preferably competing in the finals."
Tomorrow's match will allow Otago supporters to see new signing Chris Anderson, a tall striker who played for Christchurch United, and who Fleming hopes will fill the gap left by Nathan Knox, who has moved to Australia.
"We are really pleased Chris has joined us. He is an experienced frontrunner who can hold the ball up well and wins his share of ball in the air.
"The Phoenix game in midweek had lots of good performances, and could push a few more young players into the frame.
"Considering the difficult weather at Tahuna, lots of players showed they are capable of stepping up a level."
Tom Connor continued to show his potential with a strong performance at right fullback, however a suspension has caught up with him and he will not start.
Also missing are the experienced Paul Seaman and striker Alistair Rickerby, who has a dislocated shoulder.
It is a big match for the squad with play-offs looming.
"Our squad realise just how important this match is. Win and we take another step towards the play-offs. And even then, we must keep winning to break clear from that mid-table group."
Similar thoughts must run through the mind of Hawkes Bay coach Matt Chandler, whose team sits three important points ahead of Otago.
Leon Birnie is set to make his return to the championship after a stress fracture to his left foot. Birnie will undergo a fitness test before his confirmation to take the field.
David Gearey makes a comeback with Dan Ball and Ryan Martin also in contention from the club's academy set-up.
All White midfielder Cole Peverley has departed for a trial with Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders and Adam Chandler and Tom Biss are dropped as part of Chandler's academy rotation policy.
However Hawkes Bay does have the talismanic Andy Bevin in its ranks, and that youngster scored a hat-trick in Bays' 3-2 home win over Otago in the first round.
