Central Otago District Council business development manager Jonathan Gadd is available to talk about the Cromwell Town Centre Action Plan with visitors to the I-Site during the next two weeks.
Mr Gadd started answering questions about the council's large-scale plans and artist's impressions of the future Cromwell centre yesterday morning.
He is scheduled to be at the information centre in The Mall from 1-4pm tomorrow, 9am to midday next Tuesday, and again from 1-4pm next Thursday.
Mr Gadd said the concept plan on display did not involve predicted costs of development.
He said phase two of the project would further detail the logistics of the improvment, and would include suggestions made by the public during phase one.
"This is the call to action . . . the community board chose this concept as their preferred choice of plan.
The board is aware there will be a significant cost involved but how things get paid for hasn't been part of the discussion at this stage," Mr Gadd said.
He hoped phase two would begin within a year, depending on public support for the initial concept of upgrading Cromwell's centre.
Feedback had been largely positive so far, he said.
Cromwell Community Board chairman Neil Gillespie said it was vital for the community to submit its feedback on the proposal, which the board had adopted in principal.
Mr Gillespie said the new town centre was designed as an attraction of Cromwell, to replace the dated existing complex.
The concept features the establishment of a "High St" for the central business district, the connection of Iles St to Murray Tce to improve flow, and links between The Mall and the Sargood development as well as better signange.
Displays at the information centre will be up until Friday August 1 as well as information packs and submissions forms, which can also be obtained from the council's website, the Cromwell Service Centre, and the council's offices at Alexandra.
Submissions on the proposed development close on August 18.
