Wanaka sports magazine publisher Matt Tuck has announced a three-day cycling, mountain-biking and triathlon event for Wanaka from March 4 to 6.
Mr Tuck said the idea was to have a "festival of sport" that provided athletes with choice and also attracted people to the town.
The event would start with a road cycling criterium around Pembroke Park on March 4, followed by 140km cycle race between Queenstown and Wanaka and return over the Crown Range on March 5.
Mountain-bikers have the option of a 12km or 24km race around the Dublin Bay circuit, starting at Albert Town, also on March 5.
The final day offers three triathlons of varying distances and disciplines and one duathlon, all starting from Roys Bay, opposite the showgrounds.
