The family's campervan rolled and burst into flames on the Omarama-Lindis Pass Rd on Thursday night.
Although no-one was injured, the campervan was destroyed.
Constable Paul Mander appealed to the community for assistance to allow the couple, and young child, to continue their holiday.
As soon as the email was distributed, his telephone "ran red hot" and he took calls continuously for about two hours.
"They had offers of everything you could think of.
"They received all the clothing they needed, packs, baby gear, cash, Christmas dinner and accommodation.
"We also worked closely with the campervan company, who delivered a new van, and the Belgian consulate to arrange new passports," Const Mander said.
He received calls from as far afield as Dunedin and the North Island.
Everything the family needed, including the delivery of the replacement campervan, was arranged by the night of Christmas Eve.
"They are extremely humble people and once they had the basics, they were asking that the rest of the goods be donated to others who could be made happy."
Const Mander wanted to thank everyone who offered help, saying they had contributed to a "fantastic Christmas story".
