Crews from around West Otago and northern Southland rushed to extinguish a fire in the living room of a home near Heriot yesterday evening.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Daniel Nicholson said two pumps and a tanker from the Gore, Heriot and Tapanui stations were called at 9.10pm to the property in Park Hill Rd.
The crews were able to extinguish the blaze quickly before it engulfed the home, he said.
There were no reports of injuries and St John did not attend.
