A stepladder allegedly stolen from an Owaka home was one of two incidents on the evening of Anzac Day brought to the attention of police.
Acting Senior Sergeant Trevor Thomson, of Dunedin, said the stepladder was leaning against a wall when it was taken from a Ponuwea Rd property overnight on Wednesday.
That same evening, an incident described by Snr Sgt Thomson as a "wee bit unusual" took place at a Dunedin home in Sheen St, Roslyn.
"Somebody's jumped up on to a veranda. They've taken nothing, no doors were opened."
The property owners had "heard a big thump" in the night which they had thought was an animal, but later saw human footprints on the veranda, he said.
