Music Review: Cardi B

Armed with an origin story to rival her famous forebears, Cardi B burst into mainstream consciousness with Bodak Yellow, a track which made money moves and left her rivals riddled with Louboutin heel marks.

Invasion of Privacy (whose title is a sly nod towards the ubiquity afforded by her breakthrough) is full of similarly explosive cadences ("I’m provocative, it’s my prerogative/80k just to know what time it is"), an arsenal of bunker-busting beats, and a galaxy of first class guests — make no mistake, though; this is the Cardi show, with her vivacious volubility making for an utterly absorbing debut.
