The trust presented a report to the Central Otago District Council's community services committee at the council meeting this week.
The committee agreed to provide a one-off grant of $15,000 to the trust through the council's 2016-17 annual plan.
The trust told the committee 80% of the grant had been spent
employing a part-time executive officer, who developed a heritage strategy for the district.
Trust chairman Graye Shattky said a top priority for the trust was to develop and publish a Central Otago Heritage newsletter, to communicate happenings to its members and the public.
Funding for specific projects in the plan would be requested from funding bodies such as Pub Charity and the Central Lakes Trust.
Other high priorities for the trust were to establish a management structure for the Central Otago Oral History Group and develop a management plan for the Central Otago Memory Bank, a website that archives electronic copies of documents, photographs and film documenting Central Otago's history.
He thought the Central Otago District Arts Trust would be a good model for the heritage trust, Mr Shattky said.
