The Queenstown Airport Corporation has until January 17 to decide if it will appeal the decision to reject night flights to and from the resort, QAC chief executive Steve Sanderson said this week.
Earlier this month, the Queenstown Lakes District Council adopted plan change recommendations by commissioners Bob Batty, Stephen Chiles and David Clarke that the QAC be allowed to increase its air noise boundaries, but rejected its proposal for 11 night flights a week between 10pm and midnight.
Mr Sanderson told the Queenstown Times this week QAC had not made a "final decision" on whether to appeal to the Environment Court on the ruling regarding night flights.
"We have talked to two [stakeholders] but we have got a list to go through ... and some of those stakeholders want time to consider it."
The airport corporation and submitters had 30 working days, from the time the council notified its decision, to lodge an appeal.
"We're basically considering the plan change and talking to the business leaders and various stakeholders ... presenting information and support that we would need, particularly for the 10pm to midnight [flights].
"Various people are looking at those options and the economic benefits to the region," Mr Sanderson said.
