Otago claimed six placings in the Super Finals on the opening night of the Otago-Canterbury-West Coast championships.
The meeting, which began on Wednesday at Moana Pool, involves swimmers racing for regional medals in the morning, before finals are raced in the evening session.
Of those, the Super Finals are the top flight of competition, with the fastest eight swimmers regardless of age-group competing for prize money.
Neptune’s Caitlin Deans (18) claimed a first and a second on the opening nights.
She swam 4min 28.03sec to take the women’s 400m freestyle race, before a 2min 23.23sec swim meant a close second in the 200m backstroke.
In the 400m freestyle, she edged out 14-year-old club mate Erika Fairweather, who was second in 4min 31.57sec.
Zenith’s Tame Govaerts-Paul took first in the men’s 100m breaststroke Super Final in 1min 06.21sec.
Neptune’s Courtland Ellis claimed a tight win in the men’s 50m butterfly, swimming 26.26sec, to win by .13sec.
Jessica Scott, also of Neptune, was second in the women 50m butterfly in 29.25sec.
Several other Otago swimmers claimed placings in their age-group finals.
