A 20-year-old man was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition yesterday when the tractor he was driving rolled on a farm about 10km north of Oamaru.
Police were called to a Rosebery Rd farm shortly before noon, a police spokeswoman said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said initial reports were the man was trapped.
Two crews from the Oamaru Volunteer Fire Brigade were sent at 11.47am but helped only with setting up a landing site for the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter and moving the patient.
No extrication was required.A police spokeswoman refused to release the man’s name yesterday afternoon and Dunedin Hospital would not update the Otago Daily Times on the man’s condition without it. WorkSafe has been notified
