Kawarau Falls gains consents

The Kawarau Falls Station development at Frankton has been granted two non-notified consents, for a general store and a wine retail and tasting cellar.

Lakes Environmental has approved the applications from Melview (Kawarau Falls Station) Development Ltd.

The 120sq m convenience store will be on the ground floor of the Lakeside West building and accessed by internal roads and footpaths and a parking area, for which consent has already been granted.

The application stated the store was for the convenience of guests and residents, "and to a lesser extent, people working there".

Alcohol was likely to be available from the business.

Consent was also given for the sale of liquor from a restaurant and bar in the building as well as sales from mini bars and room service.

Lakeside West is one of five building precincts within the development and includes 42 contained units on four floors.

Each unit consists of one or two bedrooms with separate lounge and kitchen and outdoor living areas.

The 17.2sq m wine tasting and retail cellar will be next to the Signature Bar and Restaurant in the Reserve North Hotel precinct, and will cater for a maximum of six groups of 10 each day.

Alongside bars, restaurants and cafes, the project is expected to include other resort-style retailers, including ski shops, beauty salons and galleries.
