Allied Press out-printed the opposition to win the major broadsheet newspaper awards at the Single Width Users Group New Zealand print awards.

The company was awarded both the winner and runner-up trophies in the broadsheet category.

The front page of the May 24 edition of the Otago Daily Times won the category and the May 25 front page was the runner-up.

"It is particularly pleasing to win both awards," Allied Press operations director Ray Clarkson said yesterday.

"The awards are for technical excellence in printing and the entries were judged on things like cleanliness of production, registration excellence and colour saturation."

The ODT beat every other broadsheet newspaper in the country in winning the awards.
