The course for a new multisport event to be held at Glendhu Bay, Wanaka, on December 4 has been confirmed.
The Point3 race is a five stage event comprising a 900m sprint run, 40km road cycle, 12.6km off-road run, 6km kayak or 1.9km swim, and ends with an 18km mountain bike ride.
It uses public and private land.
Competitors may enter as individuals or teams.
All legs return to the same central transition point at the Glendhu Bay camping ground, organiser Danielle Nicholson, of LMS Events in Wanaka said.
The race replaces LMS Event's Mountain 2 Mountain event, which used to be raced between Treble Cone and the Snow Park every September.
Mrs Nicholson said the name Point3 was chosen because each leg represents just under one third of the distance of other well known races, such as the initial sprint which starts the Coast to Coast and the Around Lake Brunner running race at Greymouth.
Mrs Nicholson said she hoped the race would attract visitors and locals training for bigger challenges such as Challenge Wanaka or Contact Epic.
